If you have just bought (or been given – lucky you!) a DSLR camera and are wondering where to start, or if you’ve been using one for a while and want to improve your photography, then this is the course for you.
In this full morning or afternoon “Introduction to DSLR Photography” session we will help you get to know your camera and how to make it work for the kind of pictures you want to take.
Split 60/40 between our studio and the beautiful streets and riverside locations of Henley-On-Thames, this workshop is a great combination of theory and practice. We’ll go over the basics and the not-so-basics first – apertures, camera modes, lenses etc – and then head out to put your camera through it’s paces and take some pictures. As we walk we’ll evaluate the images you’re taking and discuss what can be done to make them better.
When we get back to the studio we’ll go through your images and pick a couple to work on in Photoshop, where we’ll look at some basic techniques for improving composition and retouching as well as giving them a little creative “pop”. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to learn how edit the pictures on your iPad, we can cover that.
At the end of the session you’ll be confident enough to take the camera off of “AUTO” setting and to start having fun experimenting with the more advanced settings.
Here’s a selection of topics that I’ll cover in these workshops:
