Suitable for absolute newcomers to studio based photography this hands-on session will demystify the tools, techniques and concepts that a photographer needs to understand to create beautiful images with studio lighting.
We will take a completely bare, unlit studio and step-by-step build a full, multi-light Portraiture setup. We’ll use various modifiers, such as shoot-through umbrellas, softboxes and reflectors to explore a number of different lighting techniques.
Learn how to:
You don’t need to bring any equipment yourself, but if you are going to bring your own camera please ensure that it has a “hot-shoe mount” capable of taking a flash trigger. All DSLR cameras should have these as do some high-end compacts, such as the Canon Powershot G12 or Fuji FinePix X100.
Please note: since this is a one-to-one session we will share the “modelling duties”, taking it in turns to pose for pictures throughout the shoot. This has proven to be particularly effective in that it gives photographers a good sense of what being on the other side of the lens feels like in a studio setting, something that will prove invaluable when it comes to working with models in future shoots.
If you would prefer to work with a model we can arrange for someone to join us for part of the session, at an additional cost. Please enquire for further details.
Attendees on this course will qualify for a 20% discount on any subsequent studio hire or portrait photography sessions (excluding corporate and promotional shoots).
